The activities of Investing for Innovation NPC are solely funded by a grant from USA-based Inventions for Good.
Current donations to Investing for Innovation amount to approximately $34000 (approximate rand value R 500 000).
The NPC is seeking funding from other patrons/ organisatons/ foundations in order to enable additional rural children to be supported with schooling, boarding and other living costs.
Model 1: Full fees
In this model, the NPC covers the full school and boarding fees including allowances for transport and incidentals for learners.
Model 2: Transport and incidentals
In this model, the school and boarding fees are covered by an external organisation (e.g. Cricket South Africa) and the NPC covers the costs of transport and incidentals for learners.
Model 3: Co-funding model
In this model, the learner costs for school fees and boarding costs are shared by the project, a private funder/ foundation/ donor. Transport allowances and incidentals are covered by the NPC.
The NPC Investing for Innovation currently works in conjunction with four South African schools that offer boarding facilities to rural learners in the North West and Rustenburg to accommodate 6 children in the project. One learner is in grade 12 and will exit the project at the end of 2021 freeing up space for the project to take another deserving rural learner.
The approximate funding per learner is dependent on the school and examples are provided based on the four schools the learners are enrolled at.
